China's pesticide market from 2014 to 2018

With economic development, environmental pollution caused by pesticides has also received attention. As the government strengthened its supervision, some SMEs were eliminated due to failure to meet environmental-friendly requirements. Therefore, total pesticide production and market sales have gradually declined.

From 2014 to 2018, total pesticide production and market sales have declined steadily, by 40% and 69% respectively. But even so, the demand for pesticides is increasing every year, by 7.6% from 2014 to 2018. From the perspective of the nature of pesticide companies, the top three are private enterprises, state-owned enterprises and joint ventures accounted for 43.5%, 21.1% and 18.9% respectively, followed by foreign-invested enterprises and other enterprises whose proportion is 5.6% and 10.9% respectively.

With the strengthening regulation of pesticide market, the number of pesticide companies is also decreasing. In the future, enterprises will move toward large-scale and intensive development. It is expected that the production process of pesticides will achieve green development and management.
